AI Assistant

Update on 2024-04-10: we are now activating this on all PRO users (sign up here!) as a BETA test with no additional fee. Usage is capped, but a personal OpenAI API key can be set on individual accounts manually. Just contact us here if you want us to remove the limit for you.

Concept: The AI Assistant, powered by OpenAI’s API, seamlessly integrates into shrib.com to enhance your everyday writing tasks. Select a part of your note, hit Alt-A or click the rocket icon, and explore numerous suggestions to improve your text.

How to Use:

  1. Access one of your private notes.
  2. Optional: select a specific part of your note (if not, the entire note will be considered).
  3. Hit Alt-A, or tap/click on the rocket icon in the left toolbar
  4. Choose a task from the options provided.
    • Pro Tip: Use “Follow direct instruction” for custom instructions. Example: in your note, select the text “Erfinde ein Märchen”, use “Follow direct instruction” – and you will get a newly invented fairy tale in German!
  5. Optional: Set the desired quality for the resulting text (e.g., “super short and very funny”or “very academic, complicated, and long”).
  6. Click the Do it! button.
  7. Wait for the AI to work its magic (complex tasks may take longer).
  8. The result will be displayed in a separate container (adjust the text box size as needed).
  9. Optional: use the Repeat Task button to generate more alternatives and tweak task and quality settings for each alternative.
    • Pro Tip: Use the dropdown box at the bottom of the dialog to compare different suggestions.
  10. Complete your AI assistant task:
    • Replace in Note replaces the original text with the displayed suggestion.
    • Append to Noteadds the displayed suggestion to your note with a timestamp.
    • Append all to Note includes all suggestions in your note, each with its timestamp.

A note about data privacy: When you interact with our AI Assistant, both the input you provide and the resulting suggestions generated by the AI are shared with OpenAI through their programming gateway (API). However, as per OpenAI’s commitment outlined in this document, none of this data is utilized for training their AI models.
